Rex grew up on the east side of Cincinnati.  He met his wife Sandy while attending Calvary Christian High School in Northern Kentucky and they were married in 1997.  He and his wife have been married 28 years. They have two children, Grant (23) and Alexis (18).  Grant married his wife Alyssa in 2024 and they are expecting their first child next April.  Both of them work in leadership roles at the freestanding Chick-fil-A on North Fairfield.  Alexis is a Sophomore at Cedarville University where she is studying to be a pediatrician.

Rex began his professional career in education, teaching high school mathematics and serving as a boys basketball head coach for many years prior to becoming a high school principal in 2006.  He served in that role until May 2011 when he left education to prepare for the opening of his first Chick-fil-A restaurant in Greensburg, PA in August 2011.  After owning that business for two years, Rex and his family relocated back to Southwest Ohio in 2013 to Beavercreek to become the owner/operator of the Beavercreek freestanding location.  A few years later in 2016, Rex became the owner/operator of the Mall at Fairfield Commons Chick-fil-A as well.
